Earl of Dudley’s Round Oak Iron and Steel Works Ltd
Registered 1891. The works were founded at Brierley Hill, West Midlands by Lord Ward in 1857, making pig iron. Lord Ward was create the 1st Earl of Dudley in 1860. By the 1890’s the works turned to steel production and this company was formed, employing thousands of men. The company was in liquidation by 1894 after some financial problems but was reformed in 1897 as the Earl of Dudley’s Round Oak Works Limited. The works carried on through to the 1950’s and 60’s when it was nationalised and privatised and renationalised and was finally closed in 1982. Dissolved <1916. Company number 33796
