East Kent Railway Company
Incorporated on 4th August 1853
A line running from Strood to Canterbury. It opened in 1858 and 1860 having been extended a number of times and connected with the city of London. The name was changed to the London, Chatham and Dover Railway in 1859. The company later joined with the South Eastern Railway to create the South Eastern and Chatham Railway, but remained an independent company until 1923.
