Eastern Union Railway Company
Incorporated on 19th July 1844
A line built on the proposed route of the Eastern Counties Railway, continuing from Colchester on to Norwich and Yarmouth. The company later acquired the Ipswich and Bury Railway, and leased the Colchester, Stour Valley, Sudbury and Halstead Railway in 1847, eventually forming part of the Great Eastern Railway.
Original capital £300,000 in Whole and Half shares, and loans of £100,000. Total authorised capital in 1853 following amalgamation etc. £2,110,000 and £620,000 in loans.
