Hackney Empire Palace Limited
This well known theatre and music hall was built in 1901 and saw performances by Charlie Chaplin and Laurel & Hardy amongst others. Closed in 1956 and was taken over by television company A.T.V., but after various changes was reinstated as a theatre in 1986. Sir Oswald Stoll, who signs the certificates, 1866-1942, theatre manager, later owned Cricklewood Studios, Stoll Pictures well known in the silent film era. Founded the Stoll Moss Group theatre company. Stoll founded the Royal Variety Performance which is still an annual production today.
