Hammersmith Palais Limited
Registered 1919 as Hammersmith Palais de Danse Limited. Dissolved <1932. Company number 155007. The first and probably the most important Palais de Danse to be built in Britain, opened in 1919. It hosted many of the best known jazz artists in the 1920’s but was converted to an ice rink in 1929 at the beginning of the depression. It again became a dance hall in 1934, registered as Hammersmith Palais Limited. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and many others have performed there. Despite its importance it was closed in 2007 and condemned for demolition.
