Certificate seen issued to John Moore-Brabazon, signed by brothers Howard T and Walter Wright. Howard Wright. An important piece of aviation history. Howard and Walter were most most famous for their Biplane, shown at the first ever 1909 Olympia Aero Show. He owned several patents for aviation engineering and remained involved in aviation for the restof his career but not as a designer. Lieutenant-Colonel John Theodore Cuthbert Moore-Brabazon, 1st Baron Brabazon of Tara, GBE, MC, PC, HonFRPS, 1884 to 1964, was a most influential pioneer of aviation. He was the first to fly solo in Great Britain in a Voisin biplane. He went into business with the Wrights. He was the first to qualify as a pilot in the UK and wes given certificate no. 1 by the Royal Aero Club. He gave up flying after his friend the Hon. Charles Rolls was killed in a flying accident in 1910.
