Huddersfield Canal Company
Incorporated in 1793. Affectionately known as the Narrow Canal so as not to confuse it with the earlier and much large Broad Canal, the route linked the town of Huddersfield with Ashton under Lyne in the outskirts of Manchester. Acquired by the Huddersfield and Manchester Railway and Canal Company in 1845.
