Founded as the Liverpool Institution in 1814 but name changed by Royal consent to Liverpool Royal Institution. Incorporated by Royal Charter 24th November 1821. The buildings in Colquitt Street comprised a museum, theatre, art galleries and warehouses. Dissolved in 1948.
