Owned theatre in London. Part of the Oswald Stoll group. He is known to have signed the certificates. Sir Oswald Stoll (1866-1942). Theatre owner and manager. Leaving school at an early age, he helped his mother manage the Parthenon Theatre in Liverpool which became very successful. He proceeded to acquire theatres in many towns and by 1898 he merged with his competitor Edward Moss to form Moss Empires. The company traded as either ‘Empire’ or ‘Coliseum’ and had theatres in most large towns in Great Britain. Organised the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation for disabled soldiers, which coninues its philanthropic work today.
