Manchester Carriage Company Ltd
Registered 1st March 1865. Dissolved <1916. Company number 1932C. Established to provide horse-drawn bus services throughout Manchester and Salford, the result of a merger between the competing transport interests of local rivals John Greenwood, Robert and James Turner, and Alderman Ivie Mackie. Merged with Manchester Suburban Tramways Company in 1880 to form the Manchester Carriage and Tramways Company.
Capital £150,000 in shares of £20. By 1879 had increased to £486,210 by the addition of £166,840 ‘B’ shares of £10, £165,170 in ‘C’ shares of £10 and £4200 in preference shares of £7 each.
