North Western Railway Company (‘Little North Western’)
Incorporated on 26th June 1846
A 42 mile standard gauge line and 18 mile branch, connecting the Leeds and Bradford Extension Railway in Skipton with the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway in Milnethorpe, in the North of England. The company was dissolved and re-incorporated in 1852 with the same name but including further branches and thus more capital. This line was leased to the Midland Railway and is not to be confused with the London and North Western Railway.
Original Capital £1,100,000 in Shares of £20 each. Loans of £366,000.This amount was increased by the Act of 1852.
