Oxford and Rugby Railway Company
Incorporated on 4th August 1845.
A broad gauge line to connect the named towns, taken over and built by the Great Western Railway. It opened in 1850, but only ever reached Banbury due to gauge issues. The line was strongly opposed by the London and Birmingham Railway who were proposing a rival route at the time.
Capital £600,000 possibly raised by the GWR.
