Redruth and Chasewater Railway Company
Incorporated on 17th June 1824.
A 9 mile line in narrow (4ft) gauge, built to carry minerals such as copper and coal to and from the Cornish towns. Opened in 1825, it was the first public railway in the area. In 1853 share capital was increased to allow locomotive use, old shares being substituted for new.
Original Capital £22,500 in shares of £100 each. Increased to £36,000 in 1853.
