Sandow’s Cocoa and Chocolate Company Ltd
Registered 1912 by Eugene Sandow, well known strongman. Eugene Sandow (1867-1925). Also referred to as the father of modern bodybuilding. Born in Prussia he was by the age of 19 performing feats of strength. He was employed by Florenz Ziegfeld for his carnival shows and soon became his first real star. Performed all over Europe and at the Columbia Exposition in Chicago. Became a businessman, inventing and selling bodybuilding techniques and equipment. Organised the first ever bodybuilding contest in 1901. A friend of George V, Thomas Edison and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Buried in an unmarked grave in Putney Vale on the orders of his wife but in 2002 an admirer placed a stone and plaque there. A.W.Gamage of Gamages Stores was also a director. Dissolved <1932.
