The company issued a financial newspaper, pushing shares in which the Mandeville brothers, Alexis, Henry and Walter had an interest. The shares were sold through their Financial Mail and Exchange company in which the public were duped into investing. They all speculated wildly and at the time of this scandal they were all undischarged bankrupts living a life of luxury. It was one of Scotland Yard’s highest profile cases of fraud for which they were all sentenced to 6 years in prison.
