
Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil Junction Railway Company
Re-incorporated on 1st August 1859 (First company defunct in 1847).
A line built to link Brecon and Talybont. It was extended numerous times in the 1860’s to Merthyr and Dowlais, and eventually passed to the Great Western Railway in 1922.
Original Capital £80,000 in shares of £10 each, loans of £26,000. New extension capital in 1860 of £50,000 in shares and £16,000 loans. Preference shares created for extra £63,000 in 1861, and numerous further extensions followed.
Capital in 1881: £1,218,900 in Ordinary stock (consolidated in 1865) and preference stock. Loans/debenture stock of approx. £750,000.
