Bristol and South Wales Union Railway Company
Incorporated on 27th July 1857
Broad gauge lines to run either side of the Bristol Channel, connected by the operation of a steam ferry (later replaced by tunnel) linking Gloucestershire with the South Wales Railway in Monmouthshire. It was worked by the South Wales and the Great Western Railways, and amalgamated with the latter in 1868.
