Ely Valley Railway Company
Incorporated on 13th July 1857
A mixed-gauge line built primarily for coal transportation, running to the Penarth Harbour, Dock and Railway (already under construction), and the Taff Vale and South Wales Railways. The line was extended several times and was leased by the Great Western Railway for 999 years, eventually being absorbed in 1903.
Capital £70,000 in shares of £10 each and loans of £23,000. Extension capital of £13,000 in shares and £4,300 in loans.
