Festiniog Railway Company
Incorporated on 23rd May 1832
A narrow-gauge (1ft 11¼in) tram road to link Portmadoc with slate quarries in Festiniog. The line opened in 1836 and was the first narrow-gauge railway in the world. It was re-incorporated on 26th July 1869 and improved and extended to allow passenger traffic.
Original Capital £86,186 and loans £12,000. New capital authorised in 1869 of £90,000 and loans of £30,000.
