Monmouth and Hereford Railway Company
Incorporated on 4th August 1845.
A 22 mile broad gauge line to connect the towns, and intended to link them with the Cheltenham and Great Western Union Railway. The line was built by the Great Western (who were also promoting the latter) and connected to their existing lines via the Gloucester and Forest of Dean branch.
Capital £550,000 raised by the GWR.
