Rhymney Railway Company
Incorporated on 24th July 1854. A line linking the town with the Newport, Abergavenny and Hereford Railway. It was extended towards Cardiff where it joined the Taff Vale Railway, and opened in 1858. Running arrangements were made with the London and North Western, and the Great Western Railways.
Original capital £100,000 in shares of £10 each. Loans of £30,000. This amount was increased numerous times, the total capital in 1890 being £1,824,918 in shares and stock, and £523,300 in loans, the stock having been consolidated in 1889.
