Robert Livingstone Stevens (1787-1856), engineer and inventor. Son of John Stevens and brother to Edwin A. Stevens. Helped his father with steam power experiments, especially with the steamboat ‘Phoenix’ in 1808. President and engineer of the Camden & Amboy Rail Road after 1830. Drove the first locomotive on the first steam passenger service in New Jersey in 1831
