Columbus Delano, 1809-1896, politician, statesman, lawyer and banker, 11th United States Secretary of the Interior under President Grant, organised Yellowstone as a Federally funded national park, heavily involved with ‘Indian Affairs’ during the 1870’s. Resigned amid accusations of corruption in 1875 and retired to practice law. <I>Somewhat toned, fine and rare. Only 2 examples recorded by Cox.
