Duquesne Incline Plane Company
Incorporated in Pennsylvania by 1877. A steam powered funicular built to carry cargo up Mount Washington, later developed to carry passengers. Many such inclines were built in the area but by the 1960’s only this and the Monongahela remained. Closed for a time in 1962 but reopened as a non-profit preservation society and still a most popular tourist destination (2022).
Capital $40,000 in shares of $50.
