Allied Newspapers Limited
Registered in 1924 following the amalgamation of various newspapers, including those of Edward Hulton. Renamed Kemsley Newspapers in 1943 and was subsequently bought by Roy Thomson, Lord Thomson of Fleet, in 1959.
Capital £6,750,000 in 4,750,000 8% Cumulative Preference shares of £1 and 2,000,000 Ordinary shares of £1. Increased by 1934 to £8,750,000 by the addition of 2,000,000 6½% Cumulative First Preference shares of £1. Increased again by 1940, converting all shares to stock and increasing the Ordinary stock to £2,500,000.
